envelope x upgrade
KS Envelope X Upgrade Worth It? [no spoilers] Storage & Parts I'm brand new to Gloomhaven and I backed the Frosthaven KS for the all in so I'll have the whole shebang soon. The KS offers an envelope X upgrade as an add on. I have no idea what that means since I haven't played the game yet. Is it worth the $22 to buy an upgrade for whenever I get to open envelope X? Are the components in the envelope the kinds of things that would be really cool if upgraded? Or are they perfectly fine just the way they are? Most of the discourse I've seen on it has been something akin to 'if you don't know what that is, don't worry about it.' Well my friends, as you see... I worry. I get not wanting to give spoilers and totally respect that, but it doesn't answer if an upgrade is worth the money. Just searching for envelope X on this subreddit should be less work than making another post about it... I was very disappointed once I got to that content that it was included in such a way as it is. I much prefer the new upgraded why as it fits with the rest of the game instead of the cheap solution that it is currently being presented at. level 1 anwei40 1 point · 2 months ago If you’re a completionist, sure. It’s cool content similar to other good content in the game. If you don’t think you’re going to spend hundreds of hours on the game, I’d just ditch the retirement cards that give you Envelope X. You’ll be fine with other stuff and it’s maybe not the best ratio of content to $$ in the game. Rules & Help Tinkerer has an ability to return all discard to hand for another player. If I declare a long rest and he uses that ability, I now have all my cards in my hand before my turn. As I have no cards in discard, I cannot discard a card. So when my turn comes up, I get my 2hp and start the next turn as normal without having had to discard, but by taking the long rest I still had to sacrifice a turn of action. Can anyone just sanity check this? We have a house rule at the least to allow it, but I’d like to see if it adds up. It’s all predicated on the fact that you announce long rest up front, but the actions themselves are at 99init 27 Comments Share Save Hide Report 57 Posted byu/SqueekyMcClean 4 days ago Setup for the first scenario, spoiler-free (to show how much space is needed and how much is saved with the Helper app) Gameplay & Setups youtube.com/watch?... 19 Comments Share Save Hide Report 21 PROMOTED•Posted byu/officialsquarespace 1 month ago If you’ve got 30 minutes, you’ve got a sleek and stylish new website. The honest worst part of Gloomhaven was the front-loaded ~1 hour explanation and the draggingly long first scenario which had high chances of failure for new and/or conservative players. I mean, it set the tone well, but it didn't feel good. Jaws of the Lion is the perfect form of Gloomhaven. I unboxed it a week ago, but finally got to play it yesterday with a full group. One had done the tutorial to Gloomhaven, the other two had never played anything like it. Teaching Jaws was extremely simple: "play two cards, this one is initiative, and when you run out of cards you rest" and honestly the most complicated part was explaining resting. No nosense, no city events, no road events, no futzing with cards to pick something you think is good - just get in the action and go. The progression of "use these A cards" then "swap some A cards with B cards" and slowly graduating into a full character was great. Especially the explanations on the cards! Wow, that was a genius move. I handed them cards and no one had questions, which normally means I'll get a lot of questions, but those explanations are absolutely great. I'm very much looking forward to having a more teachable and approachable Gloomhaven! 33 Comments Share Save Hide Report 44 Posted byu/TwoGrams 7 days ago Duplicate Voidwarden box Jaws of the Lion https://imgur.com/a/HGUiXiK Didn't realize until I was done punching out the boards that I had a duplicate Voidwarden box and was missing Hatchet. Tried emailing Cephalofair support but no luck yet. If anyone has an extra Hatchet box for trade let me know. 23 Comments Share Save Hide Report 43 Posted byu/music411 2 days ago All punched and ready for my first play through.
